The Media Section
I never intended this site to become media-intensive, but here we are. Its unavoidable in today's world. However, to keep things light on my end (I run this site for about $8 dollars a year in domain registration fees plus whatever electricity it costs to run the server that I built for less than $300) I have no media engine or backend of any kind.
What you are looking at is written using Notepad on one of two vintage IBM Model M keyboards hosted on IIS 10 running on a home-built server made from used and spare parts in my actual garage where I also keep my cars, tractors, and at least 58 bins of my old lady's Christmas bullshit. The internet at its finest!
Media will be presented here in either PDF for select still images or ZIP archives made directly from original optical media (CDs, DVDs) or other files containing the original unmodified content. For playing an unzipped DVD archive, I find that VLC Media Player works pretty well and presents it pretty much like you're watching it on an actual DVD player connected to a TV. VLC will play pretty much anything and is my go-to media player for work and play.
Attention July Session: Send me your stuff! Email to dm dot boyle at att dot net or contact me through the Discord server. I want everybody to be represented here.

- White Stag '96 Closing Ceremony - Priceless VHS camcorder video of the closing ceremony for White Stag '96 at Camp Red Wing. Dated June 15, 1996. Courtesy Harley Arnold.
- 1996 Senior Patrol Leaders - Left to right: Ryan Augustine, Travis Walker, Nick Snider, and Pat Day. Note the BSA campaign covers. These were worn by the adult staff. Adult staff changed to the Leisure Felt BSA field hat the following year. Courtesy Ryan Augustine.

- White Stag '97 Closing Ceremony - Priceless VHS camcorder video documenting the '97 staff campsite and the course closing ceremony at Ransburg on June 14, 1997. Courtesy Harley Arnold.
1998
1999
- White Stag JLTC Promotional Video - This is a rare, fresh out of the storage tote 5½ minute video produced by Carol Bick (CD 990) and Ryan Schnizlein originally released on VHS intended for presentation to troops and probably district roundtables promoting White Stag JTLC. The still photographs appear to be from sessions at Camp Red Wing no newer than 1998. The plastic Virco school surplus chairs that were in BP around that time and the sand-filled pool are prominently featured. Senior staff of June and July sessions contributed to this video. White Stag Staff in order of appearance are Kevin Tucker (SPL 991), Kyle Roane (SPL 992), Reuben Pillsbury (SPL 994), Joe Day (SPL 993), Jim Sitzman (JASM 990), Nick Blandford (SPL 995), and Bob Sitzman (Senior Quartermaster, Troop 990). There were two youth "senior" quartermasters in Troop 990 on July session in '99, one for equipment and one for food, in addition to the regular adult quartermasters for each position. To my knowledge this is the only time this was ever done. Digitized from the original VHS on March 9, 2026. Bonus points if you can find the Easter Egg! Hint: it has to do with a uniform. ZIPped VOB (DVD) video format. Courtesy Kyle Roane.
2000
2001
- 2001 June Session Photographs - 2001 was one of the first years where digital photography came into the mainstream at White Stag. Most if not all of these were taken on a Sony Mavica that used a 3½-inch high density floppy disk for storage. For the young kids out there, that's a whopping 1.44 megabytes unformatted.
- 2001 June Session Slideshow - This looks like the beginnings of what is possibly a staff party slideshow presentation? It appears to have closing ceremony pictures which is the very last day of course so this wouldn't be the Friday night slideshow. There are not enough photographs in here to be the full slideshow either. Around 2001 or 2002 is when we were starting to use PowerPoint for this stuff instead of photograph slides on a carousel machine.
- 2001 Woods & Water Session Photographs - Digitized from the original photograph slides by Raleigh Whitham.
- 2001 June Session Photographs - These originally came from the photo CD distributed to staff members at the end of the session which I subsequently uploaded to Facebook some years later. From my personal archives.

2005
- 2005 June Session Media DVD ZIP Archive - This DVD contains all the still photographs and two slideshows from June Session in 2005. 2005 is a significant year as it would be the final run of the JLTC syllabus in June at Camp Red Wing. Foreword by Dave Largent. Courtesy Tim Underhill.

- Stairway to Leadership - One of my all time favorite memories from my years on staff was this song. This is basically a private session daylight recording at the fire ring probably not before seen on the internet. Classic rock? Check. Best staff ever? Check. White Stag? You better believe it! NYLT Media
The NYLT syllabus comes with prepared media on DVD including video segments, documents, and so forth. The course makes frequent use of multimedia thus requiring electronics such as DVD players, PCs, projectors, or displays. As the syllabus is updated almost annually there are a number of revisions of this DVD out there.

- NYLT DVD ZIP Archive - 2015 version of the NYLT DVD. Includes an original PDF of the 2015 version of the NYLT syllabus. Courtesy Tim Underhill.
