Crossroads of America Miscellania
- 1962 BSA "A-OK Unit Go Roundup Membership" Pennant - Awarded to Troop 245. This prominently features a space exploration theme including a Mercury spacecraft as this was during the Space Race era. It also shows evidence of being tacked up to a wall at some point. From the Troop 245 archives.
- 1962 100% Boys Life Pennant - Indicative that every member of Troop 245 took Boys' Life Magazine in 1962. Previously tacked-up. From the Troop 245 archives.
- 1963 100% Boys Life "Banner Unit" Pennant - Same as above, but for 1963. Previously tacked-up. From the Troop 245 archives.
- 1963 BSA "Adventure Roundup" Honor Unit Pennant - This pennant prominently features what appears to be a Mercury spacecraft atop an Atlas launch vehicle in-flight, indicative of the Space Race era. Previous tacked. From the Troop 245 archives.
- Troop 245 Charter Certificate - For the period ending February 29, 1976.
- 1980 Whetzel Trace District Klondike Derby Award - Third place. This is a really cool patch on a nice hand crafted award. From the Troop 245 archives.
- 1982 Whetzel Trace District Fall Camporee "Nuke Waste Race" Award - First Place. Another really cool patch. The theme of this camporee was pioneering. From the Troop 245 archives.
- 1982 Whetzel Trace District Spring Camporee - This is a cool hand-painted commemorative participation token from the '82 district spring camporee. The theme was Skills of Survival. From the Troop 245 archives.
- 1985 Whetzel Trace District Charter Honor Unit Recognition - Issued by District Chairman Art Weaver to Troop Committee Chair Steven Meadows and Scoutmaster Gary Jones. Dated December 31, 1985. From the Troop 245 archives.
- 1986 Whetzel Trace District Swim Meet Participation Token - From the Troop 245 archives.
- 1988 Whetzel Trace District Fall Camporee Best Overall Troop Award - Pack 245 Den 2 and Den 6 are also included. It used to be customary for the Webelos den(s) to attend the district fall camporee with the troop as they would be joining the troop the following spring. I did this with the troop in the fall of '94 at Ransburg. From the Troop 245 archives.
- 1990 Whetzel Trace District Spring Camporee Javelin Throw Award - No spell check on this one. From the Troop 245 archives.
- 1990 Whetzel Trace District Spring Camporee Obstacle Course Award - From the Troop 245 archives.
- 1991 District Camporee Most Improved Award - The district name is not specified on this one and '91 was right around the time of the change from Whetzel Trace to Pathfinder. I know that it was Pathfinder by '93 when I started. From the Troop 245 archives.
- Pack 245 Charter - For the period ending March 31, 1993.
- Troop 245 Charter - For the period ending March 31, 1993.
- 1994 Pathfinder District Spring Camporee Class B Campsite Inspection Award - From the Troop 245 archives.
- 1999 Pathfinder District Fall Camporee Best Dining Area Award - I guess this is a dinner bell. From the Troop 245 archives.
- Troop 245 "A-Team" Adult Leaders Pennant - I just love it when a plan comes together. This is an interesting handmade leather pennant. Named hereon are Scoutmaster James Halik, and Assistant Scoutmasters Ed Maschino (1979), Jim Wilson (1979), Terry Fenimore (1980), Ronald Shell (1982), and David Stansifer (1983). There are four holes punched in the wide end as if it was designed to be hung on a flag pole or vertically on a wall. This has got to be no newer than about 1983. From the Troop 245 archives.
- Troop 245 Leadership Corps Flag - This is another interesting piece of handmade regalia. It is not dated, but it bears the Whetzel Trace District mark (the interlaced letters W and T) and the BSA Leadership Corps patch from the early '80s. Named hereon are Bryan Long, Duane Norman, Keith Bain, and Kevin Doty. There is a snap next to each name, perhaps to attach a leadership position patch. Keith Bain, Kevin Doty, and Duane Norman appear on the 1986 troop charter paperwork for the term ending in 1987, so this is likely mid to late '80s vintage. From the Troop 245 archives.
- 2005 National Jamboree Photograph Archive - There are numerous members of our staff in here. Courtesy Tim Underhill.
- Order of the Arrow Wulakamike Lodge 21 - Where To Go - This is an absolutely fantastic vintage resource produced and distributed by Wulakamike Lodge 21, Order of the Arrow, containing camping, hiking, canoeing, and other educational opportunities for scouting units. Wulakamike Lodge 21 was the Crossroads of America Council's OA lodge prior to the merger with Wabash Valley Council, at which point the combined OA lodge became known as Jaccos Towne Lodge 21. This book is fifty-nine pages, red plastic coil-bound with a fantastic hand-drawn card stock cover and the vast majority of the contents were produced on a typewriter. Back before the internet, this would have been a fantastic resource for scouting units to have all of this information in one convenient place. The book itself is undated, but there is one CAC camp reservation form contained within that is dated 1978, so this is no older than 1978. At the time of this book's production, Dave Dominick was the Lodge Chief and Greg Davis the Camp Promotion Chairman which may help to date it more specifically for those in the know. Note the vintage camp maps contained herein, including the map of Camp Red Wing still including the suspension bridge over White River, the camp sites on the east side of the river, and the apparently still functional pool, all of which had been decommissioned by the 1990s.
- Crossroads of America Council Articles of Incorporation - Filed with the Indiana Secretary of State on September 8, 1972, this is the legal instrument that merged the Central Indiana Council, Delaware County Council, Kikthawenund Council, and Whitewater Valley Council to create the Crossroads of America Council. The subsequent merger with the Wabash Valley Council would occur almost forty years later, recorded by the Indiana Secretary of State on on February 20, 2002.
- Pathfinder District Troop 245 1997 Order of the Arrow Election - This could be said to be the one little card that started it all for me. I was elected by fellow members of my home troop to attend the OA Spring Ordeal in 1997 at the end of which I was recruited to attend White Stag JLTC. The rest is history. Dated March 10, 1997.
- Pathfinder District Troop 245 1998 Summer Camp Order of the Arrow Callout Form
- Bob Ruble OA Vigil Honor Certificate - Bob was scoutmaster of Pathfinder District Troop 245 for several years in the late '90s at the time I was active with the troop. Evidently he had to dig up this certificate and fax it to Terry Troxell (also a White Stag Staff alum) apparently to obtain a replacement Vigil Honor sash. Fax dated March 5, 1997. Original certificate dated May 25, 1969.
- Wulakamike Lodge 21 Newsletter - Dated February 27, 1998.
- The Goodlander Volume 26 Issues 1-3 - The Goodlander was the official newsletter of Wulakamike Lodge 21. These are issues one, two, and three spanning the time period from January through June, 1998. Arrowmen who are also White Stag Staff mentioned herein or contributing to these editions of The Goodlander include Chris Taylor, Seth Powell, David Kaspar, John Powell, Craig Runshe, Terry Troxell, Reuben Pillsbury, Nick Peters, and Elliot Kastner.
- 2000 Silver Beaver Award Recipients - From the January/February 2000 issue of the CAC newsletter Crossroads. White Stag Staff alumni who received the Silver Beaver in 2000 pictured here are Maurice Heitzman, John Cook, Bruce Henry, Nelson Howell, Judy McConnell (Mom), and Marilyn Sue Smith. If I missed anyone please tell me! Courtesy Nelson Howell.
- CAC 1993-1994 Calendar Cover - Includes a county map of the council service area as it stood in 1993 with locations of council offices, scout shops, and camps shown on the map. Also includes addresses and points of contact for each office, shop, and camp. The office in Anderson was a hold-over from the former Kikthawenund Council, the Muncie office a hold-over from the former Delaware County Council, and the Hagerstown office was a hold-over from the former Whitewater Valley Council. These three councils merged with the former Central Indiana Council in 1972 to become Crossroads of America Council. Courtesy Ryan Augustine.
- Reporting Procedure for Child Abuse or Neglect - Dated March 9, 1994. Courtesy Ryan Augustine.
- Check Request Form - Circa 2002 version used to request official check(s) from the CAC Accounting Department.
- Nelson Howell Photographs - Nelson Howell was on our staff for a number of years and provided these historical photographs as he was not able to attend the 2025 reunion due to health problems. In addition to White Stag, Order of the Arrow, and Firecrafter, Nelson was active in Troop 228 in Franklin, Indiana for many years. These deserved some special attention since Mr. and Mrs. Howell went out of their way to mail these to me. Photo 1 of 3: Nelson Howell (left, in uniform) and Kenny Demaree (right). I believe this photograph may have been taken at the National Museum, Boy Scouts of America, when it was housed on the campus of Murray State University, Murray, Kentucky. Photo 2 of 3: Nelson Howell, Kenny Demaree, and a group of scouts and scouters from Troop 228 in Franklin. Based on the plate on the van, this is no newer than 1990 and no older than 1987. Photo 3 of 3: Nelson Howell and (unidentified scout) in front of the sign at the entrance to Camp Belzer, Indianapolis. Unknown date. All photographs courtesy Nelson Howell.
